The September 2026 issue of *Ars docendi* once again focuses on a key theme: teacher training and the current state of university-level didactics in a cross-national comparison. Andrea Balbo provides an overview of the system, current issues and unresolved questions in Italy, whilst Renate Oswald (for the second time in *Ars docendi*, incidentally) examines the current state of teacher training in Austria, whilst Stefan Kipf and his team, together with Alfred Lindl and Sophie K. Maas, present current priorities in university-level Latin teaching methodology in Germany – with interesting and highly informative findings. P. N. Fiorini introduces us to teacher training in Italy from the perspective of a young Latin teacher.
In addition, we have invited a guest from the USA to this issue to describe the so-called Classical Diploma and its aims and benefits.
