The ‚fabula‘ of Livius Andronicus, which marks the beginning of Latin literature, will be examined in depth, discussing the sources, highlighting the exegetical problems and proposing further interpretations in order to show the intertwining of Latin, theatre and didactics that underlies it. This can still provide an interesting point of reference for the teaching of Latin, especially with regard to the method of dramatisation, which continues an ancient tradition that is alive and effective, as numerous experiences and initiatives in schools and universities show.
