Emanuele Lelli, a teacher of Greek and Latin in Rome and secretary of the "Antico e Moderno" working group, poses the following question as to why enrolments at classical grammar schools are also declining in Italy and puts forward the following thesis: It is necessary for today's society and young people to consider more "applied" learning, more experiences "in the laboratory", more "practical learning", even in classical education.
