Ars docendi 19/2024

Vorwort – premessa – Foreword [Korn]

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

welcome to issue 19/2024 of ‚Ars docendi’!

This issue has two main focuses:

  1. The main article by Doepner and other authors deals with new, alternative ways of correcting and assessing translation work, with a particular focus on text comprehension.

  2. Four articles deal with the relationship between Latin as a subject and closely related disciplines: Latin and theatre (Boldrer), Latin and archaeology (Freydank), Latin and Middle and Modern Latin (Giere) and Latin and museums (Schneider).

  3. This issue also includes five further contributions on linguistics (Engelhardt), comparative literature (Sauer), medical terminology (Oswald) and the history of classical science (Tibiletti) as well as a research report on the evolution of whales (Manco). The latter shows the affinity between classical philology and palaeoarchaeology, linguistically with regard to zoological terminology and in terms of content with regard to the juxtaposition of scientific factuality and symbols, imagery and ancient myths.

I wish you an enjoyable read!
